Product Description
The Blueair Pro L is part of Blueair’s new range of "Pro" air purifiers. The Pro L is the second biggest out of the 3 in this range and can move up to 1122 m3/h of air. The unit can be fitted with a Particle, SmokeStop or Carbon+ filter, depending on the amount of gas and chemical filtration you require. The Pro L can also be equipped with a light scatter (called by Blueair an "Air Intelligence Module") to monitor basic changes in base levels of gas and particle pollution, and will allow you to use the auto mode to adjust the speed setting of the Blueair Pro L to basic changes in pollution levels detected.
The Blueair Pro L has a modern and sleek look. It uses the same filtration technology as the Classic Blueair range and is constructed from galvanised steel with a white powder coat finish.
The Blueair Pro L has been specifically designed to work in large rooms. The air purifier is able to offer a high number of air changes while being especially energy friendly. At setting one, the Blueair Pro L is very quiet and not likely to be heard, which makes it ideal for use in bedrooms or other very sound sensitive environments. With a decibel level of 32dB(A) and 34dB(A) on setting one and two respectively, the unit can easily be deployed in rooms up to 30 m2 and achieve 5 air changes as the manufacturer recommends.
With a sound pressure of 55dB(A) on setting three, the unit moves an impressive 1122 m2 of air, but would really only be appropriate in non-noise sensitive environments. Blueair measure the sound of their air purifiers in 'sound pressure' as oppose to most other brands that use 'sound power'. If you would like more information on how to assess the noise levels of an air purifier, please visit our blog post: How to assess an air purifier’s noise levels?
Due to its high airflow rate, the Blueair Pro L moves air like a fan would, which may appear to make the room cooler compared to the ambient temperature, and can lead to the feeling that the Pro L is pushing out cold air when it is not - due to the 'wind-chill factor' of moving air.
This Blueair Pro L is ideal for large size spaces and will help in effectively filtering the following:

Specifications
Filtration: | Like all Blueair units, the Blueair Pro L uses a combination technology of ionisation in combination with an electrostatic and mechanical mesh filter. Because of this, the filtration efficiency will not be consistent. Actual filtration efficiency of the Blueair unit depends on the remaining life of the filter and the speed setting the unit is run on. |
Airflow Rate: | Speed 1 - 238 m3/h Speed 2 - 374 m3/h Speed 3 - 1122 m3/h |
Room Size: | Depending on how noise sensitive the area is that you will use the unit in, the following gives you 5 air changes per hour in the following room sizes: Speed 1 - 19 m2 Speed 2 - 30 m2 Speed 3 - 90 m2 |
Decibel Levels: | Blueair measures the sound of their Pro range using Sound Pressure rather than Sound Power as many other manufacturers do: Speed 1 - 32dB(A) Speed 2 - 34dB(A) Speed 3 - 55dB(A) |

Features
The Blueair Pro L is a very nice looking air cleaner and its large LCD display makes it easy to use. Two simple PLUS and MINUS buttons turn the air purifier on and off, as well as cycle through the three different speed settings. There is also a filter life indicator, to indicate when it is time to change the filter in the unit.
The Blueair Pro L can be equipped with Blueair’s “air intelligence module” (AIM), a light scatter to detect changes in particle and gas filtration. The (AIM) also allows you to set the air purifier to auto mode which means it will adjust the running of the fan according to changes in base levels of pollution detected.
Large Airflow
The Blueair Pro L is ideally suited to large rooms. It can be effectively deployed in large bedrooms, living rooms or most workplaces. The Blueair Pro L utilises two powerful, energy-efficient fans to deliver clean air fast.
Design and Durability
The design of the Blueair Pro L is stylish and functional. The way the air cleaner is designed, allows the unit to be placed along walls so that space can be maximised and the air purifier easily blends into any given environment. The casing of the Blueair Pro L is constructed from galvanised steel which is environmentally friendly and has a white/grey glossy finish. The filters for the Blueair Pro L are made from 100% polypropylene fibres so that they are easier to recycle.
Filtration Technology
The Blueair Pro L uses Blueair’s three-stage filtering system, and even though it is called 'HEPASilent', the Blueair Pro L does not actually use HEPA filtration but a combination of ionisation, electrostatic and mechanical filtration.
As air gets pulled into the Blueair Pro L, it enters an ion chamber where the particles are negatively charged, which makes them 'stick' to the surface of the filter fibres more easily. The first layers of the filter in the Blueair Pro L air purifier capture larger particles such as large dust and pollen for example, and the smaller layers capture particles such as bacteria and exhaust particles such as PM2.5 and PM10. The varying density of the filter fibres means that the filter does not get clogged as quickly as regular electrostatic filters would and the Blueair Pro L can maintain a better filtration efficiency then regular ionisers do. The filtration efficiency of the Blueair Pro L, however, will change over time and will depend on speed setting and the remaining life of the filter. On average it is recommended to change the filters every 6 months.
SmokeStop Filter
The Blueair Pro L can be fitted with a 'SmokeStop' filter which contains 280 grams activated carbon. The carbon in the filter has been treated with magnesium dioxide and copper oxide so that it is able to better capture chemicals and odours. The SmokeStop filter has been designed to work in environments where gaseous pollutants is of concern. The fibres in the SmokeStop filter are naturally antibacterial, preventing bacteria and mould growth.
Carbon+ Filter
The Blueair Pro L can also be equipped with a “Carbon+” filter . This adds an additional level of carbon filtration in order to filter out more gases, odours and VOC’s.
