Product Description

The Blueair Pro XL is Blueair’s most high-performance air purifier to date, which can move an impressive 1682 m3/h of air. The Blueair Pro XL is the largest air purifier in the range and comes fitted with the Blueair light scatter (called “Air Intelligence Module”). The module is designed to identify general changes in particle and gas pollution levels in your indoor environments. The Blueair Pro XL also allows you to set an auto mode, whereby the unit is able to adjust the speed setting of the 3 fans, based on the changes it detects.

The Blueair Pro XL has a contemporary look and has been fabricated using galvanised steel which has a white/grey glossy finish. The Blueair Pro XL is able to accommodate a combination of Particle, SmokeStop or Carbon+ filters depending on whether you require particulate or gas filtration. The Blueair Pro XL also employs the same type of filtration technology as the classic range, (such as the 205, 280i, 480i and 680i).

he Blueair Pro XL features three, energy efficiency fans which enable it to clean large rooms, workspaces or commercials settings. The Blueair Pro XL is quiet when used on its lowest speed settings which makes it perfectly suited for use in bedrooms or other sound sensitive places. On its lowest setting, the Blueair Pro XL has a decibel level of 32dB(A) and 35dB(A) on its second speed setting. With these speed settings, the Blueair Pro XL can easily be used in rooms up to 45m2 and achieve 5 air changes as recommended by Blueair.

On Speed setting 3, the unit has a sound level of 58dB(A) and moves an impressive 1682 m3/h of air. However, the sound level would only be suitable in non-noise sensitive environments. Please note: Blueair measure the sound of their air purifiers using ‘sound pressure’ as oppose to most other brands that use ‘sound power’. If you would like more information on how to assess the noise levels of an air purifier, please visit our blog post: How to assess an air purifier’s noise levels?

The Blueair Pro XL is capable of high levels of airflow and can move air like a typical fan which may seem to be making the room cooler compared to the ambient temperature. This may lead to the feeling that it is pushing out colder air when in fact it is not. The reason the air feels colder is due to the wind-chill factor of moving air.

This Blueair Pro XL is ideal for large size spaces and will help in effectively filtering the following:

Specifications

Filtration:

The Pro XL uses filtration technology consisting of ionisation, in addition with electrostatic and a mechanical mesh filter. Due to the use of these technologies, the filtration efficiency of the unit will vary. The real filtration efficiency of the unit will depend on the remaining life of the filter and the speed setting the unit is running on.

Airflow Rate:

Speed 1 - 357 m3/h Speed 2 - 561 m3/h Speed 3 - 1683 m3/h

Room Size:

Depending on the number of air changes you want to achieve and how noise sensitive the area is that you will use the unit in, the following gives you 5 air changes per hour in the following size rooms, assuming a 2.4 metre ceiling height: Speed 1 - 30 m2 Speed 2 - 45 m2 Speed 3 - 135 m2

Decibel Levels:

Blueair measures the sound of their Pro range using Sound Pressure as oppose to other manufactures that use Sound Power: : Speed 1 - 32dB(A) Speed 2 - 34dB(A) Speed 3 - 58dB(A)

Features

Blueair Pro XL Air Purifier Features

The Blueair Pro XL is very easy to use and has a large, good looking LCD display on top of the unit. You can turn the unit on or off by using the PLUS and MINUS buttons. These buttons are also used to run through the different speed settings. A filter life indicator has been added to indicate when you need to change the filters in the unit. The Blueair Pro XL is also able to be set to auto mode so that it adjusts the running of the fans when a change in base levels of particle or gas pollution is detected.

Large Airflow

With its great design, the Blueair Pro XL is perfectly suited for large design-conscious workplaces, living areas or commercial spaces. The Blueair Pro XL has three high output, energy-efficient fans to deliver high capacity air purification which reduces airborne particles and odours. These are the same fans as in the Blueair Pro M unit, but three of them as opposed to one. The Blueair Pro XL is able to deliver air purification in large areas and is also able to achieve up to 5 air changes per hour depending on the room size and speed setting selected.

Design and Durability

The casing of the Blueair Pro XL has been made from galvanised steel which is friendlier on the environment compared to other materials used in many other air purifiers. The design of the Blueair Pro XL is such that it is both modern and sleek looking. The design allows the Blueair Pro XL unit to be placed along walls so that space can be conserved and allows the air purifier to easily blend into the surrounding environment. The filters for the Blueair Pro XL have been made from 100% polypropylene fibres, which mean they are easier to recycle.

Filtration Technology

The Blueair Pro XL uses Blueair’s progressive three-stage filtration process. Although the term “HEPASilent” is used, the Blueair Pro XL does not use actual HEPA filtration, it uses a combination of ionisation, electrostatic and mechanical filtration. As air is pulled into the Blueair Pro XL, the particles are given a negative charge which causes them to ‘stick’ to the surface of the filter fibres. The first layers of the filter are responsible for capturing larger particles like dust and pollen and the smaller fibres capture particles such as bacteria and exhaust particles such as PM2.5 and PM10.

The Blueair Pro XL’s filter fibres consist of different densities which mean that the filters resist getting loaded as quickly when compared to other ionisers. This enables the Pro XL to keep higher levels of filtration efficiency over time. The level of filtration efficiency for the unit will vary according to a number of factors. Filtration efficiency will depend on the contamination level, the remaining life of the filter and the speed setting the unit is being run on. The manufacturer recommends changing the filters every 6 months.

SmokeStop Filter
The Blueair Pro XL can be fitted with a ‘SmokeStop’ filter which is made up of activated carbon. The carbon is capable of trapping harmful odours, chemicals and volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). The SmokeStop filter has been designed to operate in conditions where there are high levels of gaseous pollutants, including smoke. The fibres in the filter are naturally anti-bacterial so they are able to inhibit bacteria and mould development. The ‘SmokeStop’ filter has been designed so that it has a gradient system, whereby the filter performs as many different filters to trap different sizes of particles.

Carbon+ Filter
The Blueair Pro XL is also able to be equipped with a “Carbon+ filter” . This adds an extra layer of carbon filtration in order to filter out heavy gases, odours and VOC’s. The structure of the carbon, make it perfect for trapping all kinds of gases and odours.
